Lankaostoksilla // Yarn Shopping: Loop

Vierailin Lontoossa ollessani yhdessä oikeassa lankakaupassa ("oikealla" tarkoitan sitä, että kyse ei ollut tavararalon lankaosastosta - vierailin myös kahdessa sellaisessa). Kaupan nimi oli Loop, ja se sijaitsi lähellä Angelin metroasemaa Nothern linen varrella. Se oli aivan ihana kauppa täynnä värikkäitä lankoja. Monet niistä merkeiltä, joista en ollut koskaan kuullutkaan, mikä on aina jännittävää. Erityisesti ihastuin viimeisessä kuvassa näkyvien Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift -langan väreihin. Ilmeisesti Loopin valikoimissa on yli 100 eri väriä kyseistä lankaa. Lankaa käytetään perinteisesti Fair Isle-tyylisiin juttuihin- Vaikka ne eivät olekaan ihan ominta aluettani, näin jälkeenpäin jäi vähän harmittamaan etten ostanut yhtään ihanan väristä kerää kokeillakseni helppoja kuvioita.

Kaupan tytöt olivat todella mukavia, ystävällisiä ja avuliaita. Muutenkin nautin kaupan tunnelmasta. Jos asuisin yhtään lähempänä, vierailisin täällä hyvin usein. Kun siis olet seuraavan kerran Lontoossa, älä jätä tätä väliin!

In London I visited one proper yarn store (with "proper" I mean it wasn't just a haberdashery section of a department store - I visited two of those too). The store was called Loop, and it was located near Angel tube station along the Northern line. It was a lovely store filled with colourful yarn. Many of those being labels I had never heard of, which is always exciting. I especially adored the lovely colours of the yarn in the last picture, called Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift. Apparently Loop carries over 100 colours of it. The yarn is traditionally used for Fairisle knitting. Even though it's not really my thing, I'm a little regretful I didn't buy a few balls to try out some easy patterns.

The girls of the store were very nice, friendly and helpful. I also loved the atmosphere of the shop. If I lived any closer I would be visiting this store often, that's for sure. So when next time in London, don't miss this out!
