"When it feels like everything's wrong, I put my headphones on"

Tarvitsin uudet kuulokkeet, ja vaatimuslistalla oli, että niiden on oltava nätit ja värikkäät. Ei kuitenkaan ollut liikaa rahaa tuhlattavana, ja ne nätit olivat aina myös kalliita. Ja kun sitä totaalisen täydellistä paria ei löytynyt mistään, päätin ratkaista ongelman luovasti.

Ostin halvat kuulokkeet Clas Ohlsonilta (noin 15 €) ja virkkasin niihin itse päälliset. Koska pääkappaleen ympärille virkatusta palasesta tuli jotenkin tosi kömpelö ja massiivinen, päätin lopulta peittää sen osan ihan vain kieputtamalla lankaa ympärille. Langat ovat erilaisia jämiä, joita pyörii myös peittoprojektissa. Niiden ja virkkausvarusteiden (koukku, sakset, neula) lisäksi ainoa käytetty tarvike oli askarteluliima. Varmistin sen avulla, että virkkaukset ja kierretyt langat varmasti pysyvät paikoillaan myös käytössä.

Olen tyytyväinen ideaan ja vielä tyytyväisempi lopputulokseen. Kuulokkeet ovat mielestäni nyt aivan ihanat! Värimaailma on tämän hetken lemppari ja kuulokkeet ovat paitsi nätit ja mukavat, myös uniikit. Ei tule heti samanlaisia vastaan, vaikka olen kyllä alkanut jo virkata toista paria. Tällä kertaa lahjaksi.

I needed a new pair of headphones and wanted them to be pretty and colorful. I had not too much money to spend on them though, and most of the pretty ones were awfully expensive. And when I didn't find the perfect pair anywhere, I decided to solve the problem in a creative way.

I bought a pair of cheap hedphones (approx. 15 €) and crocheted a cover on them. Because the crocheted cover for the head piece looked so bulky somehow, I decided to cover that with just wrapping yarn around it. Yarns I used are scraps I'm using in my blanket project as well. In addition to them and crocheting tools (a hook, squissors and a needle) I only needed some glue. I used it to secure the crocheted pieces so they would stay on in use as well.

I am happy with the idea and even happier with the outcome. I think my headphones are absolutely awesome now! The color scheme is my favourite at the moment, and these headphones are not only pretty and comfortable, but also unique. I won't see another pair in the strees, even though I've already started making a second pair. For gift this time.
